My Special Prayer
There are many prayers for mothers in the Bible that we can use to bless and encourage our mothers. Whether you are looking for prayers for your own mother or want to express your appreciation for close friends and family members, Scripture is filled with powerful truths that will uplift mothers in many different seasons of life.
My Special Prayer
Praying a prayer of blessing over our mothers is a powerful way to express love for them. The word blessing in Hebrew is bᵊrāḵâ which means prosperity, blessing, praise of God, a gift, or a treaty of peace (source). Our mothers are truly a blessing and gift from God. When we pray a blessing over our mothers, we pray for the peace of God to reign in their hearts and in their homes.
Prayer: Lord, today I pray a prayer of blessing for my mother. Shower her with your blessings each day as she trusts in you. Multiply her blessings, and please provide for her every need. I pray that my family and I will continue to bless her with our love and support. Amen.
How often do we forget to express gratitude to those in our family? One of the prayers for mothers that we can pray any time of the year is a prayer of thanksgiving. Not only can we offer thanks to God for the influence of our mothers, but we can make sure to thank them by making a phone call or writing a special note expressing our gratitude for them. Many people like to use the verse from Philippians 1:3, I thank my God every time I remember you.
Prayer: Lord, strengthen the faith of all mothers through the power of your word. Help them to put their hope and trust in you, and to call upon your name in prayer each day. Help them to grow in their faith as they spend time studying your word. Illuminate the truth of your scriptures as they read the Bible and gain wisdom and knowledge. Amen.
If you know of any single mothers in your family, church, or community, look for ways you can extend assistance to her. Also, pray a special prayer of provision and strength for them, that they may see the hand of God work powerfully in their lives!
There are many examples of women in Scripture who deeply desired to bear children, but encountered the pain and devastation of infertility. One such woman was Hannah. Through much weeping and mourning, Hannah continually cried out to the Lord. She earnestly prayed to God for a son, and he heard her prayer and gave her a son (1 Samuel 1:10-11, 19). In humble gratitude and appreciation, Hannah dedicated her son Samuel back to the Lord, and Samuel served God in the temple, and became one of the greatest prophets in the Old Testament (1 Samuel 1:22, 2:21, 3:10)
Prayer: Lord, I pray for my mother today on this special day of honor towards her. Thank you for her life, and for the blessing she has been in my life. Bless her and the family she loves so much! Thank you for the wonderful example of love and service she has displayed in her life. Today, I rise and call her blessed. May you continue to bless her and fill her heart with joy and love. Thank you for the impact she has had in my life and in my family. Today, may she experience the rich blessings of your goodness and faithfulness to her. In Jesus name, Amen.

Below is a list of beautiful and powerful Catholic prayers. Saying a prayer, however, is not the same as praying. In order for these words to become true prayer, they must be reflected upon, understood, meant, and the prayer must come from the depths of your soul. Next time you have an opportunity to pray in silence, take one or more of these beautiful prayers and spend time with it. Let it become your own personal prayer and let God speak to you and strengthen you through it.
God our Father, for love of You, St. Rose gave up everything to devote herself to a life of penance.By the help of her prayers may we imitate her selfless way of life on earth and enjoy the fullness of Your blessings in heaven.Grant this through our Lord Jesus Christ, Your Son, Who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen
Most grateful, most humble daughter, have pity on me and my children. Teach me, by conduct truly Christian, to deserve the warmhearted gratitude of my children. Teach my children to appreciate my love and the numerous sacrifices that I cheerfully make for their sake; teach them to repay the same by filial love and obedience, and chiefly by fervent prayers for me. Bless me and my entire family. May our hearts be intimately united even in adversity. Let us not place our happiness in temporal prosperity, but rather in the hope of a future, eternal blessedness. Pray, likewise, O sainted patroness of America, for all Christian mothers in particular, that Christian life and sentiments may everywhere be awakened among them. May these sentiments spread far and wide, uniting all families into the one great family of God, in which Jesus Christ may live and rule with God the Father and the Holy Spirit. Amen.
Saint Rose, whom I have chosen as my special patron, pray for me that I too, may one day, glorify the Blessed Trinity in heaven. Obtain for me your lively faith, that I may consider all persons, things, and events in the light of Almighty God. Pray, that I may be generous in making sacrifices of temporal things to promote my eternal interests, as you so wisely did.
Most holy Apostle, St. Jude, faithful servant and friend of Jesus, the Church honors and invokes you universally, as the patron of difficult cases, of things almost despaired of, Pray for me, I am so helpless and alone.Intercede with God for me that He bring visible and speedy help where help is almost despaired of. Come to my assistance in this great need that I may receive the consolation and help of heaven in all my necessities, tribulations, and sufferings, particularly -(make your request here)- and that I may praise God with you and all the saints forever. I promise, O Blessed St. Jude, to be ever mindful of this great favor granted me by God and to always honor you as my special and powerful patron, and to gratefully encourage devotion to you.Amen
Blessed be the Sacred Heart of JesusBlessed be the Immaculate Heart of MaryBlessed be St. Jude Thaddeus, in all the world and for all Eternity. (say this prayer, followed by the Our Father and the Hail Mary)
In 2013, when my mother moved on from this life, I asked my brothers and sisters if I could take Gramma's chair home with me and all six of them said, "yes." It has become my special place to meditate and pray in the early morning.
I smile as I envision Zen monasteries with young men in orange robes and shaved heads sitting upright, stilling their minds. I bless all the people praying through their yoga practices, stretching their spines and hearts, reaching up into the new day, bending forward with arms wide open, bowing with reverence to the one God who has over 900 names. I remember the whirling dervishes in Istanbul, their prayers spiraling through the air.
I think of my Muslim brothers and sisters settling in and focusing on their first of five devout prayer sessions of the day. I feel the Catholic Masses beginning, the rising up as the priest enters and begins to pray.
I remember how in Jewish homes, where ritual turns the everyday into the sacred, children say their morning prayers in Hebrew. The African missionary sisters are whispering, "Spirit of God in the finger of morning, fill the earth, bring it to birth and blow where You will."
What I love so much about the teachings of unity, is the special bond we have with Jesus' loving, healing message, as we also embrace universal truth teachings from all faiths. For us it is "One God, many paths." Daily I feel in my heart Jesus speaking in Matthew 18:20, "For where two or three are gathered in my name, I am there among them." Each morning as I sit in my grandmother's and mother's chair and feel the two of them, the three of us with Jesus, I gather all the parts of my life together in prayer.
In morning's first light I connect with the prayers that fill our planet in so many diverse ways, in many languages, blessing the peacemakers, tenderly holding the homeless, hungry, imprisoned and all those that are frightened.

Prayer to St. JudeMost Holy Apostle St. Jude Thaddeus, faithful servant and friend of Jesus, the name of the traitor who delivered your beloved Master into the hands of the enemies has caused you to be forgotten by many, but the Church honors and invokes you universally as the patron of hopeless cases and of things despaired of. Pray for me who am so needy; make use, I implore you of that particular privilege accorded to you to bring visible and speedy help where help is almost despaired. Come to my assistance in this great need that I may receive the consolations and succor of heaven in all my necessities, tribulations, and sufferings particularly (here mention your petition) and that I may bless God with you and all the elect throughout eternity. I promise you, O blessed Jude to be ever mindful of this great favor, and I will never cease to honor you as my special and powerful patron and to do all in my power to encourage devotion to you. Amen. 041b061a72
